Avatar Farm Online 1.3 update released (with warnings)
The latest update for Avatar Farm Online has been released.
It features the following changes and additions.
- New items and features:
- Unlockable pets that follow your player around (available on Extras->My pets).
- Now you can move items (everything except plowed land and plants) by pressing X and then placing them somewhere else with A. The sell action is now performed by pressing LT+X.
- New building: Winery that allows you to sell grapes.
- Accumulation buildings (such as greenhouses, veg cart, fruit stand…) can now accumulate additional items (up to 3 times the base amount).
- Farm recovery: Farms that for some reason disappeared from the farm list should be found and added again.
- 9 New animals.
- Gameplay changes
- Increased the minimum time it takes for crops to die from 24 to 48 hours.
- Bugfixes:
- Fixed pending friend requests being granted Friend permissions.
- Fixed crash when joining a multiplayer game while some building is being deleted.
- Fixed crash when switching to world camera on a level 100 farm full of trees/buildings (by limiting number of items drawn).
- Fixed animal truck preview tiles not shown correctly.
- Tried to fix freezes related with P2P score sharing.
Important: We’ve detected two issues related with the pets when playing online that slipped through our tests. These two issues are the following:
- You may have a crash when joining an online game or when someone joins your game, with a mention of “RemotePlayerData” in the crash report.
- After joining a game or when someone joins your game, you may experience a serious drop in framerate, to 1 frame per second or less.
First issue happens if an user never entered the “My pets” section, second issue if an user with a custom pet joins a game.
The way to fix both issues is to just go to “Extras -> My pets” and select “None”.
If you intend to play offline, you can select a pet without risk, as this only applies to multiplayer.
We’ll submit an update as soon as we’re allowed (by 25th January).
Yay! Can’t wait to get done work so I can go check it out. Been wanting to move things around since I first got the game!
I have found a glitch in this update.
After exiting the shop menu, the Hay Fort specifically (but possibly other monument items as well) reverts to “X to delete item” without LT.
After a little while (I haven’t discovered what triggers the fix)it goes back to the now normal “X to move item” option.
So it is possible that someone may accidentally delete these items by accident.
Also, with the accumulation buildings it seems to continue to accumulate into the same building even after hitting the numbered limit, instead of moving onto the next building.
Example: Building A has 12/12 fruits and Building B has 11/12.
Instead of Building B getting the extra fruit to harvest, Building A continues to receive the fruit, but there is really no way to tell how many it has in it, as the counter stops at 12.
It is not possible to tell the fruit accumulation until the building has been harvested… which in turn ruins the point of having more than 1 building or stand.
The idea behind this update was to reduce the need to have many buildings of the same type. A building now accumulates up to 3 times the usual amount, so you can use just one fruit stand to sell 45 fruits for $6, previously you needed 3 stands to do this.
I understand that some buildings partially filled before the update will remain this way for some time, since the logic to select which building receives the good is rather simple (pick the first one built until it’s full and then pick the next). I may fix this in future updates to pick the building that’s the closest to complete a batch that can be sold.
I have to check this, could be related with having LT pressed while opening the shop and not properly detecting the trigger was released.
Well, thanks to this glitch, someone tried to enter my farm and I not only lost a two level progression, but all the crops I had planted as well as the money… This is ridiculous. Especially since not everyone is going to look on this website to know there are problems.
If you have a better idea for getting people to know the workaround until we issue an update, please tell us and we’ll do it.
They have a twitter right in their game info (and this page was obviously found) and if you’ve seen the advances in technology that I have since I started gaming, these guys are on their game (pun intented). We all probably lost stuff w the update, but there’s easy ways to work around when you notice something is different. Since these are little virtual things, I just deleted glitched ducks/carts and moved on and now everything works nicely. Since these guys actually update a game that cost you a whopping 80 MSP and it’s a community game, why don’t you nicely communicate the problems you notice instead of being rude?
As far as I can tell, it just seems to happen no matter what.
So I’m not sure about that.
The main thing is really that the first building doesnt reflect how many items are in it as the maximum values were not changed.
We’re the most interested in fixing all the problems, but adding new content that fast is usually prone to add new bugs.
We’ll try to fix most problems on the next update but, sadly, patches on the Indie Games marketplace get approved REALLY slow. Let’s hope this one can came out a bit faster than the rest.
Thanks for your understanding!
I love the new update. Sometime in future updates can you add cucumbers, squash, and zucchini. I feel that you all are diong a good job, keep up the good work. Looking forward to future updates.
[…] receiving any report, and couldn’t sleep (literally) until we located the issue and fixed it. We did a post explaining the issue , and we’ll submit the update as soon as possible (we can’t submit it until Friday). […]
Hi, i am really ejoying this game, its so easy to relax to. I started it up and the first thing i saw was tractors, I was like yeah, then I found out you cant drive them, so I was like ‘nahhh’. Could you make them driveable like to water a 2 x 2 peice of land you just drive up the middle? this would be so sick!! Also can you keep bringing updates, I dont want to get bored hahah
I’m having technical difficulties with Avatar Farm Online. when i try to join another player online it gave me this error when it finished loading.
What error? Did you try the workaround mentioned here?
Likewise for me, impossible to join a game, and the error message as follows : “CRITICAL ERROR AN UNEXPECTED CRASH HAS BEEN DETECTED! NULLREFERENCE EXEPTION” ect…
That issue is definitely fixed by using the workaround mentioned on this post.
Hi me and 3 of my other friends brought this game yesterday.. 2 are working fine and we can do anything yet.. 1 of my friends can’t join are be joined and my other friend can be joined just he can’t join any farm.. It’s starts to load then just freezes.. Hope you can help.. Also I’ve tried stuff off here to help but doesn’t seem to matter..
Make sure that you and your friends have done the workaround stated here. It will fail if one player doesn’t do it.
How about some farm houses by the way this is a fantastic game everyone at milkstone is doing a wonderful job!
I just got the game and cant even play it. When I launch it, it keeps saying to restart the game and accept the update, but when i restart it just repeats the messege again.
You can press B and ignore the update. It’s just an option, but the game should download and let you play again.
No, I’ve tried. Even when I go to “My Games” the picture doesn’t even show up. Just a gray pic of a controller.
